The 2020 Bronco Is Coming

The buzz about the release of a new 2020 Bronco is still going strong, with updates filtering in from Ford along with video showing the prototype in action. While patiently waiting for its arrival, we’ve put together the following tidbits that have been shared by Ford.

Power

There are two possibilities for engine power. The all-wheel drive (AWD) Bronco may feature a 2.7-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo engine. The most likely engine will be a 2.3-liter gasoline fueled turbo-four. A 10-speed automatic is expected to be standard, but there’s the possibility of a seven-speed manual transmission. Reports note that the Bronco may be equipped with a hybrid powertrain.

Performance

The 2.3-liter engine produces a healthy 310 horsepower at 5,500 revolutions per minute (rpm) and 350 pound-feet of torque at 3,000 rpm. That’s ample power for on- and off-road excursions.

The test prototype shows the Bronco has good speed in open areas. When confronted with challenging terrain, the SUV has good maneuverability because of independent front suspension.

Exterior

The five-seater is being designed with durability in mind, for tackling rough and ready terrain. The new Bronco’s platform will mimic that of the Ford Ranger, only shorter. This SUV will have either two or four doors and it may also include the ability to remove roof panels and doors for an open-air experience when going on an off-road adventure.

The 2020 Bronco is still scheduled to make its debut in the spring of 2020. Stay tuned for more information on the arrival of this iconic SUV.
