How Often Should You Get An Oil Change?
Oil changes should be done every 3 months or 3000 miles. Many people will argue that you can go longer, and in some cases that may be true. In rare instances it may be okay to go a year or 7500 miles without an oil change. This would only be for vehicles that are driven under ideal circumstances. It is highly recommended that most drivers stick with the 3 month, 3000 mile rule.
What Should You Expect When You Bring Your Car in for an Oil Change?
Aside from swapping out the oil and the filter, there are quite a few other things that you should expect to have done. All of your fluids should be topped off, including windshield washer fluid, brake fluid, transmission fluid, and power steering fluid. The air filter should be checked and possibly replaced. All tires should be inflated to the proper levels. All belts and hoses should be checked for cracks and damage.
