Get a Peek at the 2020 Ford Bronco

The old Ford Bronco was originally a compact SUV, but starting in the 70s it went up to a full-size, two-door model. It disappeared in the 90s when demand for two-door SUVs dropped off, but now Ford is bringing back the name for a midsize crossover that’s coming in 2020, and we already know a few things about the new vehicle.

A Blocky Design

The suspected design of the 2020 Ford Bronco is reminiscent of the old Bronco models that came out in decades past. That means a blocky, rectangular front end with a lot of straight lines and right angles throughout the exterior. However, the tough design of the front end is all new.

Shared Platform With the Ranger

Ford has sold its compact pickup, the Ranger, outside of the United States before, but for 2019 the Ranger is returning to American showrooms. That’s important because the Bronco shares the Ranger’s platform, making it one of only a few crossovers to use a body-on-frame design instead of a unibody. This can increase the cost, but it also means the Bronco is tougher and can tow more weight.

A Hybrid Option

Ford has been suggesting that they’ll add more hybrids to their SUV lineup, and the 2020 Bronco might be their chance to show off how instant torque comes in handy when you’re off the road. Almost everything surrounding the 2020 Ford Bronco is rumors and speculation, but before too long Ford will take this nod to an old-fashioned SUV and make something new with it.
