A Guide to Caring For Your Ford This Winter

A Guide to Caring For Your Ford This Winter

Winter weather means snowy and icy road conditions. When your vehicle is well-maintained, it can tackle these road conditions with greater ease. Check out the following winter car care tips:

Tires

Start with your tires. Regular tires are excellent for daily driving in the spring and summer, but winter roads offer additional challenges. Snow tires are the best tires for winter driving. These tires can hold up against freezing temperatures, snow, and ice. In addition to swapping out your tires, make sure your tires are properly inflated. Over or under-inflated tires can lead to blowouts or flats. During the winter, the last thing you want is a flat. Check your tire pressure on a weekly basis.

Battery

Next, check your battery. Cold weather can take a toll on your vehicle’s battery. Before the temperature starts to drop, inspect your battery. If there is any corrosion on your battery, be sure to clean it off. If corrosion continues to collect, or your vehicle struggles to start, it’s time to swap out your battery.

Fluids

Finally, make sure all of your fluids are filled. Coolant, or antifreeze, can keep your engine from freezing in cold temperatures. If your vehicle is low on coolant, you may experience engine trouble this winter. Also, make sure you have enough washer fluid to clean your windshield during the winter. Salt, ice, and snow can make your windshield dirty and decrease your visibility.
