3 Budget-Friendly Family Outings in Moose Jaw

Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, provides plenty of places for you and your family to play. But what if you’re looking for an inexpensive spot? Keep reading to learn more about three family-friendly and affordable places in Moose Jaw.

1. Saskatchewan Burrowing Owl Interpretive Centre

Open from Victoria Day in May through Labor Day in September, this facility promotes the conservation of the burrowing owl. You can come into the facility and receive an in-house tour where you can see coyotes, jackrabbits, gophers, and owls. Although there is no admission fee, you can make a donation.

2. Wakamow Valley Park

An urban park with almost 500 acres of space, Wakamow Valley Park has lots to do no matter what the season. During the colder months, enjoy cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, and in the warmer months, you can go canoeing and camping. The park’s trails remain open year-round. If your kids want to burn off more energy, take them to one of the area’s four playgrounds.

3. Western Development Museum

As the largest history museum in Saskatchewan, the Western Development Museum houses a collection of more than 75,000 artifacts. The museum has four separate locations, including one in Moose Jaw. You can check out the Rail Gallery, items from Canada’s aerobatic team, and antique cars. Admission for the entire family, which includes parents or guardians as well as dependent children under the age of 18, is CA$25.
