2022 Ford Maverick in Moose Jaw

Pickup trucks have long been limited to full-size and heavy-duty models, but in recent years, manufacturers have started to expand beyond these traditional boundaries. For 2022, Ford introduces a brand-new model to its lineup--the small 2022 Ford Maverick full-hybrid pickup truck.

Overview

For drivers that need the capability that a truck provides, that want interior space to fit a family, and that feel compelled to reduce their carbon footprint, the 2022 Ford Maverick is the perfect vehicle. A first for the Ford lineup, the Maverick is a small pickup truck that slides right below the mid-size Ford Ranger.

Models and Pricing

Ford offers the 2022 Maverick in three model variations across Canada: XL, XLT, and Lariat. The entry-level XL model starts at $25,900 and includes plenty of advanced features and capability for the average driver, including a Wi-Fi hotspot, touchscreen infotainment system, FordPass Connect, LED headlamps, rear under-seat storage bins, and more.

Starting at $28,500, the mid-level XLT trim offers drivers more in both the design and convenience departments with added cubby storage in the truck bed, 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, an upgraded interior, power locking tailgate, and wiper-activated headlamps.

For drivers that do not want to compromise, the top-level Lariat starts at $34,450 and brings comfort and class with premium grain desert brown ActiveX seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, ambient lighting, acoustics windshield, dual-zone electronic automatic temperature controls, a 6.5-inch productivity screen, and Intelligence Access with push-button start.

Performance

The base powertrain for the 2022 Ford Maverick is a 2.5-litre four-cylinder that is assisted by an electric motor for a combined 191 horsepower. It is only available with front-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission. Even so, it delivers 1,814kg of towing capability and an estimated 5.9 L/100km city fuel economy.

Drivers also have the option of a non-hybrid powertrain in the Maverick. The Maverick Ecoboost is powered by a 2.-litre turbocharged engine that delivers 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque and is paired with standard all-wheel drive.

Design

The 2022 Ford Maverick is built to defy expectations with a customisable pickup bed, roomy interior, and tons of style. Inside, the cockpit is luxuriously equipped with high-quality materials and technology at the driver's fingertips.

Infotainment

The 2022 Ford Maverick is packed with many technology features, which makes it a great value for the price. Every model comes standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and 4G LTE in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot, and a 4.3-inch productivity screen keeps drivers alerted to vehicle operations. Options on higher trim levels include SiriusXM satellite radio, an upgraded B&O Play stereo system, and wireless smartphone charging.

Safety

Ford has spent a lot of time upgrading its suite of driver-assist technologies and making them standard on many models. The Maverick is no different as it comes with many standard driver-assist features, including auto high-beam headlamps, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, and a rearview camera. Drivers can also opt for additional features, such as a blind spot information system, lane-keeping system, adaptive cruise control, and more.
